As Albertans we’re no stranger to adversity, and we’ve all had our fair share of tough times in this province. Together we’ve punched through rough economic times, plunging oil prices, job losses, recessions, terrible wildfires, winter storms, and a once in a lifetime flood. What we’re experiencing in today’s world is nothing short of unprecedented: families going into isolation, business closing or going into suspension, schools are closed, and boarders around the world are closing.

The ERC executive group is committed to the health and safety of our members, friends, and families. We’ll be monitoring changes, and following the lead of health experts to ensure we’re taking the right steps to protect us all. The importance of limiting social gatherings and functions has prompted us to postpone the upcoming March 29 th event at Castrol Raceway.

We’re hoping to resume regular club functions and events as soon as we get the green light for social gatherings again. It was a tough decision to make as we’re a volunteer organization, and our primary source of income comes from running events. As a not-for-profit group we still incur continuous expenses, and it can be financially tight to keep the lights on even in a suspended mode. However, the health and safety of all comes first, and we feel it’s the socially responsible thing to do.
We’re incredibly grateful for all the support from our members over the years, and we wouldn’t exist without all the hard work, dedication, and donations from our volunteers. To help us through these times, we’re asking those who can afford to help us out by donating, or sign up as a member. Together we can weather this storm, and be stronger as a group while this situation plays out.

Thank you all to those still out working the frontlines, keeping essential services running, and helping those in need. We’ll be back running events soon enough so use this time to fix up that car, and hone in on your skill with those driving simulators! Be safe and get out and for a drive if you can. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.

Thank you,

Ryan Lemont
President ERC.
